Accessibility
Last updated 21 September 2026
Awove wants this website to be usable by as many people as possible. We are working towards conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA.
Measures in place
- Semantic page structure, headings and landmark regions.
- Keyboard-accessible navigation, links, controls and forms.
- A skip link to bypass repeated navigation.
- Visible keyboard focus and text alternatives for meaningful imagery.
- Responsive layouts that support browser zoom and text resizing.
- Reduced-motion behaviour for people who request it in their device settings.
- Persistent display preferences for larger text, inverted colours, underlined links, reduced motion and increased line spacing.
- Form labels, instructions and native validation that work with assistive technology.
Current status
The current site has been reviewed during development, but we do not claim that every page is fully conformant until a complete manual audit with multiple browsers, screen readers and disabled users has been completed. Legacy journal content and imported project material are being reviewed for heading structure, link wording and text alternatives.
The accessibility icon at the bottom-right of each page opens optional display controls. These controls support individual preferences but do not replace the semantic markup, keyboard support and compatibility with assistive technology built into the website.
Tell us about a problem
If you cannot access information or complete an action, email [email protected]. Tell us the page, what you were trying to do, the browser or assistive technology you used and the format you need. We will respond and provide a reasonable accessible alternative where possible.
Technical approach
We use WCAG 2.2 Level AA as our testing target and review the site against the principles that content should be perceivable, operable, understandable and robust. Accessibility is included in design, content and development reviews rather than treated as a one-time certification.
